Not an artist, but want to support our community?

Help us keep the Lower East Side on the cutting edge of artistic exploration and experimentation!

Outsiders need a way in, and it's our mission here at the Con Artist Collective to provide creative opportunities for emerging artists. Our truly affordable studio workspace and storefront gallery are available for the huge emerging artist community struggling to make ends meet here in the big apple. We are able to do this for only $5/month membership, which gives creatives access to our private social network and virtual community, a massive board for discussion, and opportunities to take part in submitting work to show, curation of our regular gallery events, art fairs, group projects and so much more. All our members are also regularly invited to weekly social events to help them expand their personal networks and get inspired through the work of others.

We need your help to be more sustainable! Your donation helps us to keep our doors open to talented artists with sudden financial difficulties, helps to fund material costs for socials, and so much more.

I loathe my own face, and I’ve done self-portraits because I’ve had nobody else to do.”  -Francis Bacon

Historically, self portraits have been the result of an artist’s resourcefulness and frugality. Rarely would an artist choose to paint themselves over an available model. However, in this digital age, smartphones have refined the art of the self portrait. The world is now more open to, if not obsessed with, artistic self representation. Some may call it narcissism. Regardless of how you feel, this trend is sure to change how, and why, artists represent themselves in their work. Con Artist Collective presents: “Mirror Mirror”. An exhibition of contemporary portraiture. You probably think this show is about you.
